North West Getting a Life Resource

Gill Goodwin, one of Paradigm's associate consultants has recently completed a 9 month secondment to the North West Valuing People Now Team, working on the regional Getting a Life programme. This guide has been written to share learning and suggest some ideas for both review and implementation.

In the summer of 2010, the North West became the third of 3 regions to appoint regional Getting a Life co-ordinators. The role of these workers was to support the region to learn from the national Getting a Life programme and to

• raise the profile of this approach and share learning from across the North West
• offer support to local areas to review their current activity in relation to young people who have learning disabilities and work.
• develop a regional resource to give advice and guidance on implementation.

The DELI group, in partnership with the North West JIP and Paradigm are proud to announce the launch of their paper ‘Altogether NOW- Collectively figuring out how to develop alternatives to just paid support.’
The content of this paper, aimed at sharing thinking and practical ideas, is the result of listening to and drawing out the ideas from people and organisations in the North West. The paper details some of their efforts to explore what has and may work, in terms of supporting people, in today’s world.
